Crazy Couponing Money Challenge — Day 8

Crazy Couponing Money Challenge — Day 8 theme: Sell your stuff!

Selling your stuff for extra cash may seem like common sense, but do you know how to sell your stuff appropriately?

Sure, yard sales are a good idea if you have a large mish-mash of stuff lying around that you want to get rid of. But yard sales depend on foot traffic and advertising and standing outside all day hoping someone will buy your junk. In the colder months, it’s nearly impossible to have a yard sale.

Craigslist is a great site to sell unwanted items. You just pick the category you want to sell in and make a post! But price your items reasonably. No one wants to pay $400 for a broken iPhone. Look at the prices listed for similar items and price your stuff accordingly. I’ve always had better luck selling on Craigslist when I list my maximum price and write OBO (or best offer). It gives people room to negotiate!

Ebay is a great site for selling electronics! If you have a broken computer or iPhone, see if you can sell it on Ebay for parts!

Sell books to Amazon or to any other buy back programs. Be aware though, books aren’t nearly as popular, therefore you most likely won’t make much. Consider donating them to your local library!

Sell used electronics to Gazelle.

If you are interested in selling baby items, you should check your local neighborhood list serves and Facebook pages. My neighborhood has a classifieds Yahoo Groups page, specifically for locals to buy and sell stuff.  You can also post flyers near Mommy and Me classes and baby clothing stores.

Remember, no one is going to want to buy a broken item (Unless it’s electronics. Many people buy broken electronics, especially if they are current, for parts.) Don’t try to sell every piece of junk that is taking up room in your house.

When all else fails, and you can’t sell an item, consider why it isn’t selling. Is it in good condition? Maybe you should think about donating it! If it’s not great condition? Recycle! It’s good for the environment 🙂

Crazy Couponing Money Challenge — Day 6 Theme: Use your Talent!

Ok, this seems like a no brainer, right? If you’re good at something, you should make money doing it. Well, it’s not always that simple. Sometimes you can’t translate a hobby into a full time job. So, what’s the point of this post? Read on.

There are so many people who have great talent. Cooking, baking, sewing, writing, etc. But what translates to cash? EDUCATION!!!

Now, before you say, “I can’t go back to school”, I am not talking about spending endless amounts of time and money on formal education. Emphasis on the word FORMAL. There are so many ways to educate yourself and improve on your talents for free!

I love to do a lot of things. I’m an idea hoarder. I love makeup, hairstyling, writing, interior design, event planning, and more! (My brain is like a wedding magazine at all times.) I didn’t know how many resources there were to help me improve on my skills! I have learned how to do smoky eyes, make a centerpiece, write a blog, thread eyebrows and more. But with online resources, I’ve learned how to IMPROVE those things.

What is your passion? Is it baking? Watch a YouTube tutorial on how to make specific desserts or decorate. Do you love knitting? Join a Facebook page and connect with other knitters and learn new techniques. Like crafts? Read the newest DIY books. Love photography? Follow professional photographers on Instagram. Social media is a great way to connect, but it’s also an amazing educational resource.

At the end of the day, educate yourself on your passion and turn it into a career. Or a side hustle. Whatever floats your boat 😉

Crazy Couponing Money Challenge — Day 5 Theme: Making Money via Social Media

Social Media is big business these days. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, and more are used for advertising by big companies. Major corporations use social media to advertise their brands. It’s big money for them. It can be big money for you too! If you don’t mind posting an advertisement on your social media accounts once in a while, check out the below sites that pay!

Crazy Couponing Money Challenge Day 4 theme: Paid to Click (PTC) Websites

There are a lot of sites that will pay for clicking on websites, completing offers, watching videos and more. If you are going to complete offers such as “free trials”, make sure you complete the offer fully, and then cancel the paid trial within the time frame. Try to use prepaid cards to pay for shipping or to sign up for free trials.

Below are my favorite PTC sites, as well as how much I’ve cashed out!

InstaGC

I’ve cashed out $590.61.

This is, by far, my absolute favorite site. You can complete offers that are totally free, click on websites, watch videos, take surveys and much more. You can get gift cards from many different retailers, or you can request a check! I have gotten HUNDREDS of dollars in Amazon gift cards, but I’ve also received checks (they arrive very quickly). You just need 100 point to cash out. 100 points = $1. Very easy.

InstantBucks

I’ve cashed out $80.

InstantBucks is very similar to InstaGC. You complete offers, click on websites and get “Bucks”. Cash out is at 500 bucks, which equals $5. You can get Amazon gift cards, PayPal and other retailers.

UniqueRewards

I’ve cashed out $73.01.

I like Unique Rewards because there are some different offers than the above mentioned sites. You can get paid for reading emails, listening to the radio and more! There are also many similar offers that you will find on other sites (paid trials, clicking, etc.) There are also contests that are super easy to enter! (I even won $15 once!)

InboxDollars

I’ve cashed out  $1317.21 (Since 2009)

InboxDollars is awesome! I get paid for reading emails, completing offers, cash back shopping, watching videos, searching, and more! It’s very easy. Cash out is minimum of $30, and it can take a while to get there if you don’t keep up with it. If you just read emails, you’ll be getting 1 cent, so do as much as you can on the site!
