Every little bit helps…..

As a stay at home mom, I understand the struggle of trying to make ends meet. When your one income stays consistent, but prices of EVERYTHING go up (A pack of hot dogs and hot dog buns costs close to $10 in NY!), it’s easy to feel despair. But there ARE some ways to make life a little easier. I’ve figured out some tips and tricks and I want to share them with you!

You know I will tell you to use coupons! They DO help! It might not seem like a huge help to save a dollar here or there, but it does add up. If you can save just $5 a week, you will be motivated to save more. Never pay full price for anything and ALWAYS make a list. Check out these resources before you start!

The Beginner’s Guide to Crazy Couponing

Use Your Smartphone When You Grocery Shop

Enter contests!!!! Now, I know this seems like a stupid idea, but it really isn’t! I’ve won SO many amazing things by entering contests on Facebook! Now, you probably won’t win $10000, but you can win so many amazing prizes! Local contests are a great way to increase your odds! I recently won a $100 gift certificate to a local supermarket! I’ve also won tickets to see Disney on Ice and Disney Live. And if you win an item that you have no use for, you can always sell it for extra cash!

Sweepstakes tips and tricks

Try out cash earning sites. Now, I hate long surveys I never qualify for either, but there are so many great sites that reward you for using their search engines, printing coupons, watching videos, or clicking on websites! There are also great apps you can use for doing the same.

Making Money MASTER LIST

Sell your unwanted stuff! If you have gift cards you are never going to use, sell them for a small fee on Raise.
You can also sell on Ebay, Craigslist or local neighborhood groups on Facebook. Another trick I use? My husband works construction in offices all throughout Manhattan. He often finds amazing things that are being thrown out! He’s found computers, chandeliers, office chairs and more! He often brings these things home (with permission of course), fixes them up, and I sell them! It’s usually a 100% profit (unless we need to buy parts to fix the item up).

Crazy Couponing Money Challenge — Day 14

Crazy Couponing Money Challenge — Day 14 Theme: Find money you already have.

If you already had money, you wouldn’t be here, right? Well, chances are, you have money you don’t know about.

Do you collect your change? Well, if you don’t, you probably have TONS of it all over your home! Do you know where I find ALL of my loose change? In the cup holder of my daughter’s stroller. Hubby and I are constantly taking Baby S out for walks and with us for grocery trips. It just so happens that the change ends up in the parent cup holder, next to the handlebar, which is the easiest place to throw it.

Where else can you find loose change? Pants pockets, on the bottom of your purse, laundromats (make sure it’s lost change and someone didn’t just set it down!), sofa cushions, wallets, coat pockets, junk drawers, little bowls/containers around the house (I have a bunch of decorative container type things that change always ends up in), etc. Chances are, you can easily find $5 to meet today’s goal.

Crazy Couponing Money Challenge — Day 10 Theme: Odd Jobs.

When you are low on cash, odd jobs are a great way to pad your wallet until the next payday. There are lots of jobs you can do that will get a few extra dollars.

Babysitting is a great way to earn extra money! Find out what the going rate is for babysitters per hour in your neighborhood, and then offer your services. If you are a stay at home mom, reach out to the other parents in your child’s class. Give them your phone number and say you can babysit in case of emergencies. Offer to do pickups or be available on sick days/holidays.

Pet care is another way to earn a few dollars. Walking dogs, cat sitting, feeding pets, etc. can be very lucrative business. Don’t take on jobs if you’re allergic though!

If you have extra time, offer concierge services. Sometimes, those with full time jobs don’t have the time to go to the post office, return library books, grocery shop, etc. This can be an amazing way to make some cash! Charge per task and do a good job! Be trustworthy, honest and helpful, and people will want to hire you.

Mowing lawns and shoveling snow are great ways to help neighbors and make money!

If you’re a great cook or baker, consider doing a little catering! If not, offer your services for setting up and breaking down parties or events!

Cleaning services are also a great way to make cash. Bring your own cleaning supplies (Green/organic cleaning products are especially great if you are cleaning a house that has children.)

Crazy Couponing Money Challenge — Day 9 Theme: Focus Groups!

So, we’re on Day 9 of the Money Challenge. Have you made any money so far?

One of my favorite ways to make money is focus groups. Major corporations pay BIG BUCKS to get feedback from REAL consumers like us. They want to know what we like, what we hate, what is important to us, and what we will really buy.

There are many legitimate companies that conduct focus groups. When you sign up, you will fill out a form telling the company more about yourself, like your age, you ethnicity, your marital status, etc. This information will help them find out if you are what the company is looking for. Companies usually want to get the opinions of certain demographics.

I have done focus groups and have been able to give my opinions on things like dolls, chocolate, baking mixes, etc. They pay really well. I received a free vacuum and $30 for giving my opinion on the vacuum in one focus group. In another, I received a free Costco membership and $100. My daughter has done focus groups for Nickelodeon and gotten paid to test apps and games! I’ve received anywhere from $30 to $200 from participating in various focus groups.

I am a stay at home mom, so it can be difficult to get to focus groups in the city. That’s why I love ONLINE focus groups. They can be webcam interviews, focus groups boards, one day questionnaires, etc. They are a great way to make money in your pajamas!

Below is a list of legitimate focus group companies.
